Plagiarism Policy
Journal for the Agriculture, Biotechnology and Education (JABEdu) strictly upholds the principles of research integrity and academic honesty. The journal does not tolerate plagiarism, self-plagiarism, data fabrication, falsification, or any other form of unethical publishing behavior.
Definition of Plagiarism
Plagiarism is the unethical act of reproducing another person’s ideas, processes, results, or words without proper acknowledgement of the original author and source.
Self-plagiarism occurs when an author reuses substantial portions of their own previously published work without adequate citation or reference.
All manuscripts submitted to JABEdu are screened for plagiarism using reliable similarity detection tools such as Turnitin or iThenticate.
Editorial Commitment
The editorial board treats plagiarism as a serious academic offense. Every submission is checked for similarity before it is sent to reviewers.
Manuscripts that exceed the acceptable similarity threshold (normally 15%) are rejected at the initial stage.
The editor may request plagiarism checks at any stage of the review or production process.
If plagiarism is detected before publication, the manuscript will be rejected immediately, and the author will be notified.
If plagiarism is discovered after publication, the Editor-in-Chief will initiate an investigation in accordance with the COPE Guidelines on Publication Ethics.
Depending on the outcome, the following corrective actions may be taken:
• Retraction of the published article and posting of a retraction notice linked to the original record.
• Notification of the author’s affiliated institution(s) and, if applicable, funding agencies.
• Temporary or permanent suspension of the author’s submission privileges to JABEdu.
All investigations are conducted confidentially and fairly, ensuring due process and the opportunity for authors to respond to allegations.
Types of Plagiarism Recognized by JABEdu
• Full plagiarism: Reproducing previously published content verbatim without citation or acknowledgement.
• Partial plagiarism: Combining portions of text, data, or ideas from multiple sources without appropriate referencing or paraphrasing.
• Self-plagiarism: Republishing one’s own previously published work or reusing large sections without citing the original source.
Preventive Measures
• Authors are required to submit an official similarity report during the submission process.
• Reviewers and editors are encouraged to report any suspected duplication or overlap they identify during review.
• The journal provides guidance and resources on ethical writing practices to prevent unintentional plagiarism.
Response to Detected Plagiarism
If plagiarism is confirmed after a formal review, JABEdu will follow these COPE-compliant procedures:
• Notify the corresponding author with evidence of the overlap and request an explanation within a reasonable time.
• If the author’s response is unsatisfactory or no response is received, the editorial office will notify the author’s institution.
• Depending on the severity, the journal may retract the article, publish a correction notice, or issue an expression of concern.
• All decisions and actions will be recorded in the editorial system and reported transparently.
Ethical Standards and Responsibility
All authors submitting to JABEdu are expected to uphold the highest ethical standards in research and writing.
The journal promotes originality, proper citation, and respect for intellectual property rights.
By submitting to JABEdu, authors acknowledge that they have read, understood, and agree to abide by this policy.
